As you can see from the date on the picture, it was May 19th, a Friday. My brother Don and sister Sherry and their spouses, along with my wife Cindy and son Hunter were heading for Route 66 in Oklahoma City for a journey West to Santa Monica to ride the Ferris Wheel. This was Day 1 of the trip. Here we are at the first rest stop in Oklahoma after a 4:30 departure from Little Rock. It was chilly out at 7 am in the morning. This was the first stop after we picked Don and Cindy up in Russellville. Don and Sherry were in Dad's Towncar, we were in the Honda Pilot with Hunter.
