DRINKING FROM MY SAUCER
You know I never did make my fortune
And I guess it’s a little too late now.
But you know I never did worry about that much
I was happy anyhow.
Then as I journeyed down life's road
Man I sure reaped a lot more than I sewed.
Yessir, I'm drinking from my saucer
Cause my cup is overflowed.
Now I'm not a man of riches, Nosir.
And sometimes the going gets kinda tough.
But I got me a good fam'ly, an old horse and a dog.
And they all love me and,
well that makes me rich Brother.
And I thank the Lord for all the blessings
And all the mercies he bestowed.
Yessir, I'm drinking from my saucer.
Cause my cup is oveflowed.
Oh I can remember those times when it all seemed that just everything went wrong.
And I could feel my faith gettin' well just a little bit thin.
But then them ol' dark clouds would roll away.
And the sun would shine in my life again.
Lord, don't let me gripe too much about the rough rows I've had to hoe.
Cause I'm drinking from my saucer.
My cup is overflowed.
Lord, if you can give me the strength and the courage
when that ol' road gets steep and rough,
I'll not ask for other blessings, nosir.
I've been blessed enough.
And may I never, ever, ever get so busy
That I can't help another with his load.
Yessir, I' ll just get on drinkin' from my saucer
Cause my cup is surely overflowed.
Thanks, Lord.
